#4235 - Does SugarChimp ever use information from other lists?

Closed General Question created by JohnK 4 years ago

Let's say I have contact Harry on MailChimp Audience A and MailChimp Audience B. MailChimp Audience A arose from SugarCRM and therefore a webhook points back to SugarCRM for MailChimp Audience A. Let's say a message sent to MailChimp Audience B results in Harry clicking "Opt Out" or "Abuse".

Does this information get fed into the CRM, even though he did it through a non-SugarChimp connected Audience? My guess is no, but never permit assumptions!

Happy to help. Record data, such as unsubscribes and cleans, from an un-synced list will not be passed back to Sugar. Only records on the Target List that is paired with a Mailchimp Audience will sync data between the platforms.

Let me know if you have further questions or need other clarification!

What about "opt me out of everything!" and abuse reports? Surely they get passed back to the CRM regardless of which list they're from?

Only lists that are synced have data passed back to Sugar. To ensure all data gets synced from Mailchimp to Sugar, you can sync all lists.

It is worth noting that Mailchimp also doesn't unsubscribe or clean an email from one audience to the next. In other words, Mailchimp treats all audiences in your account independently. You can read more about that here: https://mailchimp.com/help/about-unsubscribes/

Please let me know if you have further questions!

    Thanks, Heidi,

    So just to confirm:

How is an abuse report handled in SugarCRM? Does it opt the contact out of all the target lists connected? Does it also set the email as being opt-out?

If a record is marked as unsubscribed in Mailchimp, it will be marked as opted out in SugarCRM. If a record is marked as cleaned in Mailchimp, it will be marked as invalid in Sugar. Emails that are marked cleaned by Mailchimp cannot be re-added to the same Mailchimp Audience.

If an abuse report is received, Mailchimp moves the record out of your active audience. More information can be found here: https://mailchimp.com/help/about-abuse-complaints/ . I checked in with Mailchimp about it and it sounds like once they're moved from your active audience, they're deleted. This will remove this record from the Target List in Sugar.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best, Heidi
