#3098 - SuiteCRM 7.8.3, 7.9.0rc - overwriting critical SuiteCRM files leads to crashes

Closed Bug? created by ralf Verified Purchase 5 years ago

In 7.8.3, overwriting the file include/utils.php removed some new functions needed by SuiteCRM. In 7.9.0rc, overwriting the file modules/Emails/EMailUI.php also removed some of the newly added functionality and leads to a crash of SuiteCRM.

Please provide a version supporting 7.8.x and 7.9 of SuiteCRM or your software is worthless! Thanks.

You are correct which is why it is important to install the correct version of SecuritySuite for your SuiteCRM version.

It looks like you have an old version of the free SecuritySuite here. You don't need to install that in SuiteCRM. The default version of SecuritySuite that SuiteCRM comes with is the exact same. If you start a trial for the Enhanced or Professional version here there are versions specifically for 7.8.3 that you can download and install. Each version uses the specific files that the version of SuiteCRM comes with.

Thank you for your fast response!

I had SecuritySuite installed already before upgrading from SugarCRM CE to SuiteCRM. Do you have instructions of how to uninstall the SecuritySuite module in SuiteCRM w/o removing the built-in SuiteCRM SecuritySuite functionality?

      Regards Ralf

If you have already installed the CE version in to SuiteCRM then I suggest doing a file copy from a blank, clean SuiteCRM install from the same version of SuiteCRM that you are on. Copy these 5 directories from that clean install to your install:

      • /data
      • /include
      • /jssource
      • /modules
      • /soap

Once copied run a Quick Repair & Rebuild. That should do the trick. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks mate. Guess I'll have to uninstall the SecuritySuite module before copying the files from the SuiteCRM install, not removing the tables?

No need to uninstall. I don't usually recommend that as sometimes the uninstaller in SuiteCRM can't put back the original files depending on how file permissions were set up during the original install. I do suggest backing up your SuiteCRM install before doing this to be safe, but copying the files over alone should do the trick without any issues.

7.9.0 is now fully supported if you are looking to upgrade to it. Be sure to grab the SuiteCRM_7.9.0_SecuritySuite_v3.1.0.zip to upgrade SecuritySuite if you do.
