#3582 - Contact - Account Name sync

Closed General Question created by dacarthy 6 years ago

Hi there,

I am attempting to sync up my Contacts' Account Names.

What happens when I have a new subscriber through MailChimp, and the Account Name does not exist in Sugar?

Thanks,

D

    Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out, this is a good question. Because of the nature of parent-related fields, we do not allow MailChimp to update a Contact's Account data, rather the Account exists or not. For most of our customers, it is just too risky to allow MailChimp to update the Account data.

In your case, if a new subscriber comes through MailChimp and inputs their Company information, they will not be automatically added to that Account in Sugar. Does that help to answer your question?

    Thanks, Jon

    Hi Jon,

Thanks for addressing this question, I've got it 90% there!

If I have a MailChimp list field called "company", it seems I can choose to map this to "Accounts > Name" within SugarChimp config. In light of your answer, this has zero effect?

    Thanks!

    D

      Hi,

The SugarCRM Account name can still be pushed across to MailChimp. So if anyone changes or adds an Account name in Sugar, then it will show up in MailChimp. However, adding a Company in MailChimp will not populate the data in Sugar. So it still can be helpful if you want that data in MailChimp.

Hopefully that clears up the last 10%!

      Thanks, Jon
