Let’s imagine two scenarios.
Scenario 1: One of your salespeople (let’s call him Sam) is walking past the desk of another salesperson (we’ll call her Andrea). Sam catches a glimpse of Andrea using a filter to quickly pull up a targeted list of customers. POW! Mind blown. It’s a killer filter that Sam knows will boost his efficiency.
Naturally, he asks, “Hey Andrea, can I get my hands on that filter you’re using?”
Ah, that’s right, filters are specific to each user. So if Sam wants Andrea’s filter, she’s going to have to come to his desk and set it up for him. Or talk him through the process of setting it up. And then if Mark, Jill, Taylor, or Christine want it…
Scenario 2: A few of your salespeople have suddenly started showing improved efficiency. Everyone’s in awe. Some are jealous. What’s their secret? You guessed it: Each had created a set of filters that allowed them to move with lightning speed through their prospects.
Naturally, you want to bundle up these filters and roll them out to the entire team, ASAP.
But, of course… that’s right, each salesperson’s filters are specific to them. Rolling them out the entire team would be time consuming and -- let’s be honest -- a big pain in the butt. More importantly, the slow, manual process will eat into the efficiency gains that you were after in the first place.

With Filter Deployer for SugarCRM your users can quickly share their filters with other users in your organization. Additionally, templates can be built based on filters from multiple users and deployed to Users, Teams, or Roles.
How it works
Once Filter Deployer is installed, a new icon will appear next to the “close” icon on a filtered search.
To share follow these steps:
1 - Click Share Icon
2 - Select Users
3 - And that's it!
By default all users can create Filter Templates but they can be limited to Admin users and accessed from the admin panel
To use the Filter Templates follow these steps:
1 - Click the Add Filters to Template action menu item or the plus on the Filters Subpanel
2 - Select the filter from the appropriate user using the drop downs
3 - Once all of the filters are added click the Deploy Template action item
4 - Choose to deploy to Users, Roles, or Teams
5 - Select deploy objects
6 - Deploy
It’s been said that the only constant in life is change, and that goes for filters as well.
Luckily, Filter Deployer makes it easy to update filters that have been deployed. If the original filters are changed or updated, just redeploy them and Filter Deployer will update the deployed filters.
Multiple levels of control
Depending on your organization, it may be ideal to allow users to directly create and share filter templates. Easy, quick, and… fun(?!). Better still, no need to disturb system administrators. This is the default setting for Filter Deployer.
But keeping filter templates centralized and organized by your admins may be preferred, so it’s quick and easy to toggle Filter Deployer so that filter templates can only be created by admins.
