#1112 - Security Groups not working

Closed Bug? created by samuel 9 years ago

Hi, I have Security Suite installed with the intention of using to manage very basic groups. I.e. I have admin sitting at the top and a manager who has oversight of multiple users who have sight of thier own stuff only. So I created a group and placed the manager and the users in it, the manager has access set according to a 'manager' role i.e. all and the users access according to a 'user' role, i.e own, however I can't seem to get it to work, the manager can't see group leads contacts etc. The group role access is set as group. Am I doing something wrong?

    Hello Samuel!

Great, this is what SecuritySuite is for. There are a few more steps involved to ensure that the data is locked down correctly. Besides adding the users to the groups you will also need to set up roles and attach them to the groups (for default roles for the groups) and the users (for overrides). Then add the groups to the records in your system. Going forward, these groups will be auto inherited based on your inheritance settings configured in Admin->SecuritySuite-> Settings.

Here is a doc that covers a typical scenario:

    Hope that helps! -Jason

Hi Jason, thanks for the pointing out the guide - I referred to that when I set up the groups and I've gone back and double checked to replicate the exact set up, however I'm still having problems, and it now seems that the problem is that any user who is not admin cannot bring up any of their leads using the search function - not just the manager (who is also not admin).
The non admin user can access thier leads from the dashlet on home page but not in the search page, search yeilds no results for either the assigned user or group admin with permission to view all leads. Leads are assigned to the group and group access level is group, individual own admin access all

Sorry for these questions, but I need to clarify some points as it will work if everything is in order. On the search page have you tried doing a "Clear" and then a "Search"? Are there any errors in your sugarcrm.log after going to the search page? Looking for a possible SQL error. Any custom relate fields on the search? Try sorting on a different column and then doing a Clear and then Search. This can solve some issues that are unrelated to SecuritySuite with some custom fields. Is the group admin in the group with the user record being the Users subpanel of that group? Are the groups in the Security Groups subpanel for the Leads? For the problem users, did you go to the User record and view the Access tab to ensure that all rights look correct? Did the user log out and then back in after these changes (Sugar caches permissions upon login)?

Images of each of these would be helpful. Especially a scenario where a lead isn't showing up, but is. Images of the record including the SecurityGroups subpanel, User to Group membership, role setup, etc.

Hopefully one of these does it!
