#1117 - Inbound email

Closed Feature created by nordestinnovazione Verified Purchase 9 years ago

Hi Jason,

I would like to create a Group Inbound email from the back-end Email Admin Section, but it should be visible (in the email front-end module settings) only to a particular group members. Is it possible to add Inbound email to your Hookup Module? thank you very much! giuseppe

    Hello Giuseppe,

Yes, go to Admin->Security Suite Settings, check "Inbound email account", and save. Now go to Admin->Inbound Email and add the group to the inbound email account. Keep in mind that users will now only be able to see inbound email accounts if they are in a group associated to that account so you may need a global Inbound Email group to manage that depending on your setup. If you do, just set that new group as "Not Inheritable" so that it doesn't get auto assigned to newly created records. It's simply for managing your email accounts.

    Hope that helps! -Jason

Hi Jason, we did it but it didn't work: users not belonging to the connected security group still see the group account in their email client. Is there a role setting we missed or anything else? thanks a lot giuseppe

You may need to edit their roles to set Inbound Email to group only.

      And log out/back in.

Of course that was the first thing I looked for, but I don't see the Inbound Email module in the Role Settings... :(

I'll have to take a deeper look and get back to you. What version of Sugar are you on?

We have moved to SuiteCRM 7.1.1 (corresponding to SugarCRM 6.5.16)

      Hello Giuseppe,

I confirmed it is working on 6.5.16 when you have "Inbound email account" checked and saved on the SecuritySuite Settings page. The group inbox will not show on the email settings page for a user that isn't a member of the group related to that inbound email account. If you are seeing otherwise then either that user already had it configured or there is some sort of caching enabled on your server. After saving the "Inbound email account" you may need to restart Apache for it to go into effect if you have some sort of caching enabled. It's a long shot on that one.

Hopefully you are able to get that going! -Jason

Well It's true that the mail folder isn't shown in the mail settings. however: User A is in SecGroup A User B is in SecGroup B

Groupmail account made for SecGroup A

but When user B is checking the InboundMail Module. He still sees the GroupMail accout for A and can edit the details...

Good point. That is how it works. Inbound Mail is a module meant to be managed by admins only and admin rights always supersede SecurityGroup rights so that is why it works that way.

It's good to note that here for future users who are looking for it to work this way.

Make sure to go to SecuritySuite Settings, turn on the Inbound Email option, then go to Admin->Inbound Email and assign the groups that should see each inbox.

I'm not sure what you mean by "can edit the details" since they aren't admins so you must not be talking about the Admin->Inbound Email page.
