With this tool are you able to fill existing PDF's with the merge fields or must the PDF be created from scratch?
For example, I have a PDF, in a specific format, that I cannot modify. I would like to use this tool to merge in specific fields from Sugarcrm into the original template document and generate a new PDF with the fields filled out. Will I be able to use the existing PDF as a template (either directly or through a workaround) and preserve the format or will I need to generate a PDF from scratch and create a brand new template?

Hi,
The PDF will be created from doc or odt templates. You can generate a "fill-in" PDF, from a simple form with the help of the Open Office form editor... for example.
