#851 - Sync of custom fields not happening?

Closed General Question created by David E Kromann 9 years ago

Hi

Recently installed SugarChimp and am currently testing.

I have a Sugar test list and a MailChimp test list syncronized, but I have some trouble with 2 standard fields and 1 custom.

I have checked that for our custom field 'Customer Classification' that the lables match exactly between the two systems.

For standard fields Type and Industry - they have some different content than 'out of the box Sugar'.

Drop down values for 'Type' in Sugar and group values in MailChimp match 100%

Drop down values for 'Industry' in Sugar and group values in MailChimp do not match - do the need to?

I have done the mapping of fields but these 3 fields just does not come up in the mapping....

Are they maybe created in a wrong way in MailChimp?

Thanks

Br Lone Lauritsen

Hi there, thanks for giving SugarChimp a try.

It sounds like you setup everything correctly except that you are using MailChimp Groups on the MailChimp side. There isn't a Sugar/MailChimp integration that supports MailChimp Groups yet, but that's something we are implementing soon.

In the meantime, you will need to map your Type, Industry and Customer Classification fields to custom Merge Tags in MailChimp. Here's more on that here: http://mailchimp.com/resources/guides/how-to-use-merge-tags/html/ I would recommend using either a dropdown field or radio buttons to sync the data.

Once you have it setup, you will be able to segment on those fields whenever you want to send a campaign.

Let me know if you have any other questions about this. Thanks!

Hi Thanks for the quick reply and the link!

What sort of timeline are we talking about for the support of 'Groups'?

      Thanks. BR Lone

You're quite welcome! We just wrapped up development for the activity syncing, and MailChimp Groups support is the next big item on our list. It's hard to ballpark a timeline right now, but it's something we will definitely implement. Thanks!

Hi Could you let me know if we are closer to having support of MailChimp 'Groups' or if you know when this will be? Thanks Br Lone

Hi Laurits, I still don't have a good timeframe for when MailChimp Group support will be ready. I'll let you know as soon as we do thought. Thanks!

  • "SugarChimp is exactly what we needed, it syncs nicely between MailChimp and Sugar. The added MailChimp dashlet is very sophisticated. Works great – thank you!"
