#594 - Sync

Closed Bug? created by Rick 9 years ago

I set up my first target list in sugar that I synced with Mail Chimp. It appears that any changes made in sugar are not flowing to mailchimp. It appears that changes made is mailchimp ARE flowing to sugar for those names in Subscribed. Also, those who unsubscirbed in mailchimp does not appear to be flowing into sugar.

Hi Rick, changes from MailChimp to Sugar sent almost immediately. Changes from Sugar to MailChimp are processed every 5 minutes through a Sugar scheduler. If you go to Admin > Health Status you can see if there are any items in the queue to be processed. If you check it again after 5-10 minutes, you should see the numbers change. If the numbers on the Health Status page are not changing, there may be an issue.

Unsubscribes that were already in MailChimp before you setup SugarChimp and synced your list will not be synced to Sugar. It will only sync those that unsubscribe after you setup your lists to sync. If you have a list synced and you unsubscribe someone in MailChimp they will be marked unsubscribed in Sugar. You can find all the use cases here: https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/SugarChimp/opt-outs-hard-bounces-and-invalid-emails

Let me know if you're seeing something different. Thanks!

The changes I made in sugar did "Zero out" in health status but they are still not showing up in mailchimp (a hour later)

What type of changes did you make? If they were field-level changes (like changing someone's name or title), are you sure you have the fields properly mapped in the Field Mapping tool? More info on that here: https://www.sugaroutfitters.com/docs/SugarChimp/sync-custom-fields

I am changing fields in sugar that are also in mailchimp and they are mapped. If I make the change (employee type, company status) in mailchimp, it flows to Sugar. If I make the change in sugar, it is not flowing into mailchimp. I think I have the mapping done correctly or how else would mailchimp changes be flowing into surgar?

Now I'm not even sure changes I make in mailchimp are flowing to sugar. Does it matter that the field I'm syncing is a dropdown list? I created the same drop down field in both sugar and mailchimp (ie, with the same 10 items in each dropdown).

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0cb22j7aw0av444/Screenshot%202014-06-05%2009.07.26.png - For example, see the screenshot linked above. It shows an example dropdown in the Dropdown Editor in Sugar.

So the dropdown field is going to be a special case. I really need to write up a how-to for how to sync dropdowns. I'm 99% sure the data is coming over, but because of how Sugar saves dropdown data to the database, it's not going to match your MailChimp dropdown values so it won't display anything on the Sugar side.

You need to have your MailChimp dropdown list values match the values in Sugar on the left side (from the example: column, line, pie) NOT the display labels. Does that make sense?

If you change your MailChimp list to do this, you'll see the data come over to sugar and the dropdown will be populated.

How do I generate the report that shows me the list values, not display labels on my target lists?

If you go to Admin > Dropdown Editor you will see all of your drop downs. You can then select the drop down your interested in and see the list values and display labels.

The dropdown names can be a bit cryptic sometimes. If you don't know the exact name of your dropdown you can go into Studio, look at the field in question and find the exact dropdown name.
