#3891 - If I delete a subscriber from MailChimp, will it delete them on SugarCRM?

Closed General Question created by emails350 5 years ago

If I create a list synced between MailChimp and Sugar, will deleting people off the list delete them off Sugar? Should I use the unsubscribe button instead?

    Hello there,

This really depends on what you are needing to do. Deleting people from MailChimp will not ever delete records from Sugar. However, it could potentially mark their email addresses as opted out in Sugar, depending on which webhooks we receive from MailChimp. The same would happen happen if you unsubscribed those records from MailChimp.

What is the use case for deleting records from MailChimp? Is it a one-off record or multiple records at once?

    Thanks, Jon

I just want to unsubscribe/remove certain addresses from this one specific email, but not future emails. It sounds like the best option would be to manually unsubscribe for this email, and then resubscribe them?

    Hello,

It would be best to segment your Campaigns in MailChimp instead of unsubscribing them. If you have a short list of records you do not want to receive the email, you might be able to simply segment on 'email address' is not 'xyz'.

If that does not work for you, then you can remove them from the Target List in Sugar to remove them from MailChimp. That will ensure they are not marked as opted out in Sugar and will be able to be re-added easily.

    Let me know either way.

    Thanks, Jon
