#1800 - how can I remove lists imported from Mailchimp

Closed Bug? created by Lawrence Gerrans 8 years ago

I have been scouring through all the documentation (there is no index) trying to find out how to remove a list from Sugar that has been imported from Mailchimp using SugarChimp. A number of Mailchimp lists were imported when the product was installed, but management just decided that they only want to import a few of those lists.

Also it looks like some of the lists were imported multiple times. here's a screen shot https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8-U0erAKy0heEtWYzNOdk5VaTg

    Hey Lawrence,

I'm happy to help. Can you tell me a bit more about what you are trying to remove from Sugar? Are you wanting to remove those subscribers that were created by SugarChimp on the initial import from MailChimp? Or are you just wanting to remove the actual Target Lists that were created from the initial import?

I think removing the target lists that were initially imported during setup. When you first install SugarChimp it asks you what Mailchimp lists you would like to report. Yesterday company management wanted all the lists imported, which I did.... but today they said the only want a few of those imported. So I have a large number of imported lists that I wish I hadn't imported since now we only want a few of those lists.

So the question is simple. After importing lists from Mailchimp I would like to "un-import" them... is there a way to specifically remove those lists from Sugar? Also since I'm just setting this up, it would be fine to "un-import" all the lists and start over.

    Hey Lawrence,

Thanks for the extra information. To get rid of those imports from Sugar, you first need to go to Sugar > Target Lists module and delete each of the lists that were created. You can sort by the 'Date Created' field if you have old Target Lists that you need to keep. This will remove the lists from Sugar and they will no longer be synced. However, the subscribers from those MailChimp lists will be in Sugar. If you also want to delete the subscribers that were added to Sugar, go to the Targets module and delete all of the ones that were added in the past couple days.

The Order is very important. You must first delete all of the lists, before removing any newly created Targets. Let me know if you have any questions on this process.

I deleted the lists that we didn't need from Target List but when I go to Targets there are none.

also when I added the Campaign module it displays "sugarsugarsugarcampaigns" https://drive.google.com/a/fred.io/file/d/0B8-U0erAKy0hWmtKa0d4ZlBrbEE/view?usp=sharing

On the screenshot you sent me earlier, it showed subscribers being brought in from MailChimp were all Targets. You can check if there are any new Contacts or Leads. If not, then SugarChimp did not create any new subscribers for you, only linked those records with email addresses that were found.

Can you explain what you mean about adding the Campaign module? I see the screenshot you sent has sugarsugarsugarcampaigns, but SugarChimp works independently of Sugar's built in Campaign module. I'm not sure how we could have affected that.
