#1523 - Keeping a Mailchimp list up to date with Quick2List

Closed General Question created by gavinwilliams 8 years ago

We have a simple requirement. We want every account in Sugar with a tick box selected synced with Mailchimp.

Easy you say? Just use SugarChimp & Quick2list to automatically update a target list and sync you say? Apparently there's no way to handle a tick box being unticked (removed from a list) and then reticked (added back to the list). When you untick, Quick2list removed the account from the target list, and then SugarChimp UNSUBSCRIBES that email address (instead of just removing it from the list). Re-ticking has no effect as the email remains unsubscribed in Mailchimp.

Has anyone developed a 100% effective workflow for dynamically maintaining a list in Mailchimp? i.e. a list that grows and shrinks as needed? Any help appreciated.

Hey Gavin, this is a common use case for our customers and we’re looking at making it easier to manage. The unsubscribe issue is related to how Quick2List removes the items from the list in Sugar. We’re working with them to do this a better way.

The way you would do this today is to sync all of your accounts to MailChimp and use the SugarChimp Field Mapping tool to send that checkbox field over to MailChimp. When you send your campaign, you can then segment on the MailChimp side to say “only send to those accounts that have the box checked”.

Would this work in your scenario?

Hi Gavin, I just wanted to follow up with you and see if you were able to get everything over to MailChimp. Let me know if you ran into any trouble.
