View MailChimp Data in Sugar

The Basics

One of the most important pieces to an integration, is transparency between the two systems. SugarChimp gives you many ways to see what is going on in MailChimp, from within SugarCRM. These include:

Quick looks into MailChimp:
1. Individual Subscriber Activity
2. Campaign Summary Reports
3. MailChimp List Settings

Before you can see this information in Sugar, you must quickly setup the views for them. The setup and viewing of your MailChimp data greatly depends on the version of SugarCRM or SuiteCRM you are on.

Stored MailChimp Activities
1. MailChimp Activity Subpanels (Sugar 7 only, mobile ready!)
2. Reporting on MailChimp Activities (detailed documentation on the way!)

On the Professional and Ultimate editions of SugarChimp, we store MailChimp Activities in Sugar. Use this data to see your hottest leads, what products are getting attention, or what style of Campaign is performing the best.

Viewing in Sugar 7 Viewing in SuiteCRM / Sugar 6
    Uses Dashlets
  • introduced in Sugar7 as a way to quickly view data
  • quickly added from each page that the view is on
  • needs to be setup for each Sugar User
    Uses Connectors
  • clickable icons that display a new window
  • quickly setup from the admin panel
  • setup once for all Sugar Users to access

How to Setup the MailChimp Activity Dashlet in Sugar 7

Any version of Sugar 7 will use dashlets to view your MailChimp data. Every dashlet installation is very similar The following guide will show you how to setup Sugar to view your subscriber activities. You can follow the links above to see how to view your Campaign Summaries and MailChimp List Settings!

Give your Sugar users a way to peak into the MailChimp Subscriber activity to see what their Targets, Leads, Accounts and Contacts have been receiving and clicking. The setup for this varies depending on which version of Sugar you are using.

With version 7, Sugar introduced a new way to display data from other systems using intelligent dashlets. SugarChimp utilizes these dashlets to show you MailChimp Subscriber activity when looking at a specific Contact, Account, Target or Lead. Here's how you enable it:

In Sugar, go to one of your Contacts, Targets, Leads or Accounts. It works best if you go to a Contact that you know has an email address and has received something from you in MailChimp. If you do not have one, any Contact, Target, Lead or Account will work.

SugarChimp-Dashlet-Installation-Step-1

On the right side of the page, you should see your a column for your dashlets. At the top, there will be a menu labeled "Create". Click the drop down arrow next to it and select "Edit".

SugarChimp-Dashlet-Installation-Step-2

Your Dashboard is now in edit mode. Scroll to the bottom of the Dashboards and click "Add a row". Then in the same spot click "Add a Dashlet".

SugarChimp-Dashlet-Installation-Step-3

A new page will appear. Click "select and edit" the MailChimp Activity dashlet from the list. Then click "Save".

SugarChimp-Dashlet-Installation-Step-4

And then click "Save" again to save the dashboard.

SugarChimp-Dashlet-Installation-Step-5

That's it! If the Contact has MailChimp activities, they will show up here. Follow the same exact steps for the Lead, Target and Account modules if you would like to see their activity dashlet.

in the documentation it states the following:
"In Summer 2014, an updated will be released that gives you more control over MailChimp campaign and subscriber activity data. Data will be stored and reportable from directly within Sugar"
Has this been implemented yet, or do you have an updated ETA please?

Hi Vincent, this is our top priority and it is actively being worked on. We're getting close :) I don't have an exact ETA, but we're still on track for a summer release.

If you or a client is waiting to get started, I'd encourage you to go ahead and start a trial. The list syncing, field mapping, and activity dashlet in the current offering will save them time now. The upgrade will be simply re-installing a new package, so there won't be any time wasted there.

      Thanks!

I have just upgraded the Basic Plan to Professional, and have set the connectors in SugarCRM to allow MailChimp integration. However, the SugarChimp icon is still not shown on the contact page and nor I can check their campaign activities. We have tried to reach the SugarChimp team through the chat and email, but so far there has been no response. Could you please assist asap.
